Being involved in the community in which you live and do business is an important part of being successful and Chamber membership has provided the opportunity to get involved. It’s been said that a good part of success for a business is just showing up. By doing so we are visible first and foremost. Next, as relationships with others are developed we become trustworthy business people. Others then are confident to refer their friends and acquaintances to The HUB, our shop and not be afraid such a referral is not a good one.
I learned too that to get a good referral, one must usually give one first! So my membership has given me the opportunity to meet some of the best business people in the area and develop the trust I have in them to be a referral source for their business too. This has been referred to a GIVERS GAIN.
I don’t take our membership in the Chamber lightly due to the fact that any business I can help will eventually raise the tide that lifts all boats. I believe that when you can provide some assistance to one business in the community, you have in some small way helped them all.

I have really enjoyed my 3 years serving on the Chamber board. Mary Jo and the staff have been great to work with. My fellow board members have been awesome. It has opened my eyes to all the numerous functions that the Chamber facilitates, and also kept me more involved in town activities. I’ve been amazed at the work load that our Chamber staff accomplishes. I leave with a great deal of sadness but I know at the same time that new blood is always good for an organization. I own 3 companies that belong to the chamber
and having seen the value from close up, I exit the board knowing that my money is well spent.

The chamber means to KWUF that we are more part of our community with feeling connected to other business owners.

It seems like I wouldn’t know what’s happening in Town, and regionally if I weren’t a Chamber member. I have a regional business and have really appreciated access to Region 9 resources and information, including a grant I got a few years back for a start up. I feel connected to my community through the special events the Chamber puts on, including Business after hours, the Car Show, Color fest and the Arts Festival on July 4th. These give me a chance to volunteer for fun things in Town. I own Visiting Angels and Beehive Homes Assisted Living Facility. I’m not selling at these things, I just get to be in relationship with other hard working, successful people in my community-and I love that feeling.

Being a member of the Pagosa Springs Chamber of Commerce means “being in the know” of what is happening here in our beautiful Pagosa. It also means having the ability to be definitively proactive in our community and making a difference, not only for the betterment of our community, but also for the folks that travel to Pagosa for its many gifts and all its beauty.
